Details

Along with Proust and Joyce, Virginia Woolf is properly regarded as one of the great champions of literary modernism. To the Lighthouse is Woolf's second novel. To a very large number of readers, it's a masterpiece. To others, it's a bold experiment that failed. Let's figure it out for ourselves when we meet in May at the Portalis Wine Bar in Ballard in May to discuss this important work.

There was some religious symbolism in the book which we didn't get around to. Like the last supper Wolff says there were 13 at the dinner. And many references to the garden and the fall from grace. At the end Lily says "It is finished" just as Jesus said on the Cross. What do people make of this? Jim
